PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Hello everyone:

Oct. 1 marks the beginning of a new fiscal year for the GMCVB’s operating budget, program of work and new goals and key performance indicators. With it, we complete the prior year (FY 2025-26).

I wanted to dedicate this week’s What’s Happening newsletter to spotlighting two key outcomes that reflect our commitment and impact on the industry we champion as well as our covenant to serve and engage with our partners and association members.

First, why is the word "convention" such an important part of our name at Greater Miami "Convention" & Visitors Bureau?  I am beyond pleased to report that our Convention Sales Team has achieved and surpassed its annual goal for securing bids, contracts and agreements to host new future major conventions, trade shows or events with our partners at the Miami Beach Convention Center (MBCC) and with each win – dozens of host hotels and their room blocks.

The team secured 19 new major conventions/shows surpassing the annual goal of 18. These wins generated 122,168 contracted hotel room nights – surpassing the annual goal of 121,943 room nights. The result of 19 new bookings and the attendant room nights represents “all-time” highs in the productivity of our convention sales team. This year’s room-night total represents an increase of 13.5% in productivity over the past two years combined and speaks to the real momentum that has been created.

The following page shows the charts listing each of the new wins. Of note, four are for August and/or September, a critical need period for the GMCVB to secure hotel bookings and drive occupancy during these softer months ...
