PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Hello everyone:

What a special couple of months it has been for our community, our residents and visitors, our love of country and sport, and for our nation (along with our neighbors in Canada and Mexico) sharing the joy of the international spirit, celebration and cultural exchange gifted by hosting the FIFA World Cup 2026™. The images and stories created coast to coast (including all that we witnessed and experienced locally) will be seared into memories and moments rarely seen.

Let's try to hold on to some of that now that the World Cup has concluded. Those memories do not have to end for us, nor does the spirit of this global event.

In the weeks and months ahead, there will be time for much analysis of the overall economic, industry and community impact of organizing and hosting this tournament. In our space, much focus has been placed on the metrics related to the impact of overnight visitors during these past four weeks, including on our hotel partners.

While last week felt a bit bittersweet with the looming end of the games and our last match just on Saturday (the Bronze medal game between France and England), average daily rate (ADR) for the full week was up 26.7% over the same week last June. As a result, revenue per available room (RevPAR) last week was a bit of a forerunner of "returning to normal" for this time of year. That said, last week's seven-day RevPAR was up an impressive 15.8%.
