Hi everyone:
As we recognize National Travel & Tourism Week (NTTW), May 4-10, we celebrate an industry that’s the heartbeat of Greater Miami and Miami Beach. Tourism is more than a sector – it’s a powerful driver of economic vitality, cultural richness and community well-being.
Last year, our destination welcomed 27.2 million visitors, generating nearly $30 billion in overall economic impact and contributing more than $19 billion in Gross Domestic Product – nearly 10% of Miami-Dade County’s economy. Visitors supported over 200,000 local jobs and generated $4.98 billion in tax revenue, saving the average Miami-Dade household $2,233 annually. A vivid illustration of the importance of investing in the visitor economy – visitor spending and their related state sales tax represent over 20% of the overall annual sales taxes collected for the State of Florida – both here in Miami-Dade County and throughout our entire state...
