They reconstructed the LGBTQ pride flag by using individual polypropylene webbing straps that weave through the palm trees hovering over Lincoln Road’s Euclid Oval. Strategically located in the heart of the pedestrian-only promenade, the artwork will become the focal point of the picture-perfect gathering space as a subtle reminder that we are individuals who together weave the fabric of our society. 6:00 - 9:00 PM Poinciana Fiesta Celebration Party and Reception in the Garden House of Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, 10901 Old Cutler Road, Coral Gables.  Starting at 6 PM, trolley tours of Fairchild.   Starting at 7 PM, refreshments will be served including  Royal Poinciana Punch.  At 7:30 PM, presentations will take place for the 2024 Royal Poinciana Fiesta Queen and Court scholarship recipients and the Larry Schokman Book Award recipient.  Poinciana cake will be served at the end of the presentations.   There will be a special display of renown Key West artist Roy Rolston’s vibrant works featuring Royal Poincianas,  curated by his daughter, Michelle, who will be in attendance.  Limited edition Royal Poinciana Fiesta posters will be available for sale. This event open to the public, but guests are requested to bring a dish to share or make a $15 donation. 2:00PM Tree Planting:  The Tropical Flowering Tree Society, along with the Opa-locka Preservation Association and TREEmendous Miami, will host a tree planting in the historic city of Opa-locka as part of the 2024 Royal Poinciana Fiesta.  Opa-locka is Miami-Dade’s only municipality of a unique Moorish Revival design.  The ceremony will kick-off the plantings at the historic Opa-locka Seaboard Air Line Railroad Station located at 490 Ali Baba Avenue, Opa-locka, FL, with other larger specimens being planted strategically throughout the city limits.

2:30-5:00 PM  The Royal Poincianas Trolley Tour begins at the Coral Gables Library, 3443 Segovia Street, highlighting the best trees and  blossoms of the 2024 season. Narrated by two  poinciana experts and past presidents of the Tropical Flowering Tree Society.  Tickets $25 pp. Seating is limited to two trolleys, purchase your tickets here in advance.  Free parking available  in surrounding area next to the Library.

Friday, April 13, 2024 - Poinciana Tree Planting:  The Opa-Locka Preservation Association with the Tropical Flowering Tree Society will  commemorate the first-annual MENA Fest in Opa-Locka on April 13 from 12-5 p.m. with a tree planting in the Opa-Locka Landscape Trail. 151 Perviz Avenue, Opa-Locka.

Friday, April 26 – Arbor Day: The Coral Gables Landscape Beautification Advisory Board and the Coral Gables Garden Club will commemorate Arbor Day by planting a Royal Poinciana tree at the green space at the intersection of Riviera and University Drives, south of the War Memorial Youth Center.   The event starts at 9 a.m. and is open to the public.

Spring is blooming at CityPlace Doral! After its wildly popular debut in 2023, CityPlace Doral launched its Spring seasonal Instagrammable art installation made entirely of sunflower-decorated umbrellas.Upon entering the center, guests are welcomed with 1,300 sunflower-decorated umbrellas floating overhead on the boulevard, as an extension of The Oasis experience. The umbrellas were arranged where the sunflowers will be visible from both the top and the bottom, adding a touch of uniqueness to the atmosphere.Guests can experience photo moments in The Fountain Plaza including a tunnel surrounded by sunflowers and a swing which will be beautifully adorned with lush greenery and vibrant sunflowers.

Join Miami Children’s Museum as we celebrate Caribbean Heritage Month. Create a colorful patterned masterpiece, inspired by the work of Barbadian artist, Heather Meyer. Explore the sounds of the Caribbean through a variety of instruments and jam along to popular island rhythms. Then immerse yourself in a glowing sensory play inspired by the Bioluminescent Bay in Puerto Rico.

On the second Saturday of every month, Miami Children’s Museum offers a sensory friendly experience for children with disabilities and their families. Join us as we celebrate the opening of our newest exhibit, Roar and Explore with Dinosaurs! Meet a TRex, watch as baby Velociraptors hatch, steer clear of the volcano and dig up your very own dino fossils! As always explore the Museum in a sensory modified, supportive setting with limited admission and sound and lighting adjustments. Our goal is to provide your child with the opportunity to engage in social interactions, improve their sensory processing and to optimize their understanding of and participation in natural environments.

New Exhibition "Visions from Inside the Walls: Coral Gables Artists Today" opens at Coral Gables Museum

This group exhibition, presented in collaboration with Coral Gables Magazine, highlights the diversity and richness of the Coral Gables art scene. Curated by Gabriela Fernández, the show will be held at the Anthony R. Abraham Family Gallery from May 24 to October 6, 2024. 

The exhibition features a multigenerational group of artists exploring themes of identity, memory, and the built environment through various mediums and techniques, including intricate textiles, provocative installations, evocative paintings, abstract sculptures, and captivating photographs.  Learn more here.
