Located in the heart of Miami and embracing a specifically regional focus, 15 to 20 young Catalysts, ages 18-26, will be selected to partake in studio classes, keynote conversations, and interactive workshops on the themes of Artistry, Citizenship and Entrepreneurship. Produced by The Peace Studio and guided by experts, scholars and practicing artists, the two-day program on July 7 & 8 is a primer for a full conference in 2023, which our inaugural class of 2022 Catalysts will automatically gain access to.  Deadline to apply is May 13. Hampton Art Lovers Presents: "Poetry Under a Simple Tree: Christell Roach"
“Poetry Under a Simple Tree” is a celebration of language, history, community and belonging in the historically Black community of Overtown. Overtown has been a place of inspiration for artists and writers for generations. But its also the past home of teachers, preachers, and domestic laborers who lived and created history on the grounds of what is now recognized as the Hampton Art Lovers gallery at the Historic Ward Rooming House.  Click here to learn more about this event on May 14.
Applications Now Open for Oolite Arts' Ellies
Artists have helped Miami become one of the most culturally vibrant cities in the United States. For longtime residents and first-time visitors alike, the visual arts are a central part of the Miami experience. We hope this grant program, which is offering up to $500,000 this year, will be a game changer both for our visual artists and our city, by providing working artists with the resources they need to do their best work.  The Ellies are offered in four categories to support Miami-Dade working and emerging artists, art educators, and established, professionally accomplished artists.  Applications are open now through May 16. Learn more here.

Radical Conventions: Cuban American Art from the 1980s
A landmark exhibition, "Radical Conventions: Cuban American Art from the 1980s" is the first major museum presentation to focus solely on Cuban American art created during the 1980s. By exploring the heterogeneous nature of Cuban diasporic work from this pivotal decade, the show offers a critical counterpoint to an often binary, identity-focused narrative by framing the artists’ works more expansively within the aesthetic frameworks prevalent in the American avant-garde of the late '70s-'80s and the era’s broader socio-economic, cultural, and political landscape. The exhibition features nearly 100 works by over 25 Cuban American artists representative of various generations. Click here to learn more and to reserve our complimentary tickets. On view through June 12.
Beyond Tradition Exhibition Now Open The Arc In Opa Locka
