Latin GRAMMYS celebrates 25 in Miami

Just announced – the Latin GRAMMY Awards returns to Miami for its 25th anniversary, Nov. 14, 2024, at the Kaseya Center. Miami-Dade County and GMCVB teams worked hand-in-hand to bring the star-studded, globally televised event back for its silver anniversary.

The annual awards, presented by the Latin Recording Academy® and produced by TelevisaUnivision, honor and elevate Latin music across Spanish-speaking countries throughout the world. At home, Latin GRAMMY Week events preceding the telecast will take place throughout Miami-Dade County including Leading Ladies of Entertainment, the Best New Artist Showcase, Special Awards Presentation, Nominee Reception, Person of the Year and the Premiere Ceremony.

BHI director honored by MDCPS

Congratulations to the GMCVB’s Dr. Graylyn Swilley-Woods, recognized as an outstanding partner and/or school volunteer at Miami-Dade County Public Schools’ (MDCPS) annual Community Partners Recognition Luncheon. The director of GMCVB’s Black Hospitality Initiative (BHI), an educational fund aimed at empowering African American students and Blacks of African descent, was honored for her time, support and contributions to the nation’s third-largest school district.

Vacation planner launches at reopening of Residence Inn Surfside

The GMCVB this week hosted the exclusive grand reopening and ribbon cutting for the Residence Inn by Marriott Miami Beach Surfside. The partnership networking mixer also served as the launch of the GMCVB’s 2024 Miami and Miami Beach Official Vacation Guide.

Blogger attracts nearly half million followers

The marketing communications team partners with Visit Florida for the 2024 MICHELIN Guide Miami, Orlando and Tampa reveal event, and hosts influencer and content creator Kelly Rizzo (@eattravelrock) through April 21, focusing on Greater Miami and Miami Beach’s Michelin dining scene. The multimedia personality, celebrated for her captivating food blogging, hosts the web-series "Eat Travel Rock" delving deeper into beloved cuisines, restaurants and travel hotspots worldwide (IG: 437K). 

IPW 2024 showcase

GMCVB tourism sales and communications teams head to U.S. Travel’s IPW, May 3-7, in Los Angeles. IPW 2024 features 1,000+ U.S. supplier organizations representing all regions and industry segments; 1,100+ travel buyers from more than 60 countries, and 500+ of the world’s leading travel press.

State of the Travel + Tourism Industry May 21

It’s not too early to register for the GMCVB’s annual State of the Travel + Tourism Industry, May 21 at PortMiami’s NCL Cruise Terminal B. The meeting begins at 3 p.m. followed by a reception and business expo, entertainment and more, with your $10 registration supporting Honor & Remember. Graduating entrepreneurs

Congratulations to members of the spring Cohort of Businesses who graduate this month from the Miami Bayside Foundation Small Business Training program. Businesses participated in a 16-session entrepreneurial online workshop facilitated by industry professionals and sponsored by the GMCVB’s Tourism Business Enhancement Initiative.

It’s a great resource for families looking for exciting entertainment, travel and hospitality choices and the GMCVB – newly designated as a Certified Autism Center – is included. Happening at MBCC Axon Week 2024

Axon Accelerate and Tasercon join forces, April 22-27, for Axon Week 2024 at the Miami Beach Convention Center. Bringing together the best from public safety’s premier technology and training conferences — expert breakout sessions, world-class keynotes, state-of-the-art experiences, and the opportunity for hands-on training — the event’s forecasted economic impact is $4.65 million.

Focus on relaxing

The marketing communications team hosts popular UK national magazines Woman, Woman's Own and Chat through April 22. Features in each, focusing on relaxation in Florida for the mature traveler, are set to begin running summer 2024. Woman, Woman's Own and Chat magazines all fall under the umbrella of British publishing company Future plc with a total circulation of 350,000+.

Sales team targets premier B2B event planners

The convention sales team is participating – for the first time – in PCXP Event Agency’s “Destination Discovery,” April 23 in Chicago. It’s an exclusive opportunity to showcase the advantages of hosting meetings and events in Greater Miami and Miami Beach to the PCXP B2B events team. Only a select few CVBs are invited to attend the complimentary program.

Targeting entertainment travel

The travel industry sales team heads to entertainment travel's key B2B event, Tour Connection NY, April 24-26. The program brings together entertainment travel advisors, hotels and destinations for meetings, a trade show and networking.

O Canada

The marketing communications team hosts Canadian writer Melanie Bergeron, April 26-29, on assignment doing a destination round-up for Salut Bonjour, a French-language Canadian morning television show and online news site. Airing on TVA Network, it focuses on lifestyle topics and has a dedicated travel section with an online circulation of 2.3M.

Influencers/Podcasters promo F1 Miami Grand Prix

The marketing communications teams hosts influencers/podcasters Hannah and Zoe (@fanbehaviorf1pod), May 1-5, creating digital content for their F1-fan base on travel to the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix. With 32.4K Instagram followers and 207K podcast downloads, Zoe and Hannah explore the world of Formula 1 weekly, covering on-track and off-track happenings.

Sports ETA Women's Summit

The GMCVB’s Amanda Ford joined CVB and sports commission leaders, rights holders and industry partners at the recent Sports ETA Women’s Summit in Cleveland, sharing invaluable insights on business and event management trends. The sports events and tourism industry association is the foremost resource for sports commissions, destination marketing organizations (DMOs), and sports event owners.

ASTA spring program for SFL travel advisors

The Robert L. Duglin ASTA South Florida Spring Affair returns April 30 to Deerfield Beach. The GMCVB-sponsored trade event is expected to attract more than 150 South Florida-based travel advisors for educational workshops, networking and trade show.
