message from the president & ceo

Hello everyone:

This week was indeed a very special week for your GMCVB, for our entire destination and for several of our key partners in the cuisine and music space.

These partners dare I say – will bring amazing Latin music to our ears and a bevy of creative chefs will showcase just how their award-winning cuisine will enthrall our palates.

Things kicked off with the Latin GRAMMY® Awards announcement led by Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava at a Kaseya Center press conference heralding the return of the star-studded, globally televised event to Greater Miami and Miami Beach, Thursday, Nov. 14, 2024, where we will celebrate its 25th anniversary. Manuel Abud, CEO, The Latin Recording Academy and Nacho Meyer, president of Univision Television Networks Group at TelevisaUnivision joined me as we shared the excitement of music lovers everywhere who will honor this spectacular showcase of talent and diversity. There is much more to follow as our destination comes alive with events throughout the community. See the press release here

Yesterday, things got a little “hauter” at the 2024 Michelin Guide Ceremony in Tampa. I just returned with our team where we celebrated the award of new Stars and Bib Gourmand designations dished out to three Miami eateries – EntreNos, Ogawa and Shingo obtained coveted one-star accolades and Tam Tam claimed the Bib Gourmand with its chef Tam Pham receiving a young chef award. In addition, Los Félix and Krüs Kitchen  secured their first-ever green star award and Boia De's Gabriela Ospina captured a sommelier award. I am thrilled to share that out of a total of 27 restaurants receiving Michelin recognition in this the third year of the Michelin Guide’s focus on Florida -- Greater Miami and Miami Beach accounts for 16 out of the 27 establishments represented on this prestigious roster.

The complete Miami roster includes the following:

  • L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon - two stars (only two-star designation in Florida)
  • Ariete - one star
  • Boia De – one star and Sommelier Award
  • Cote Miami - one star
  • Elcielo Miami - one star
  • EntreNos (new) - one star
  • Hiden - one star
  • Krüs Kitchen - first-ever green star recognition
  • Le Jardinier Miami- one star
  • Los Félix - one star and first-ever green star recognition
  • Ogawa (new) - one star
  • Shingo (new) - one star
  • Stubborn Seed - one star
  • The Surf Club Restaurant - one star
  • Tambourine Room by Tristan Brandt – one star
  • Tam Tam (new) - Michelin Young Chef Award and Bib Gourmand

In closing, as mentioned before, there are just so many individuals who had a hand in either or both of these wins. But make no mistake, beyond the visibility, the captivated travel audience and the buzz created - these stellar events are vivid examples of the ‘destination brand’ we all have established and are nurturing. Greater Miami and Miami Beach continues to ascend to our rightful place at the intersection of multicultural entertainment, music, major events, food and sport. That ascension must and will continue.
