We are calling on your support to make this year's H.O.T. Challenge the most successful yet! We kindly ask for your contribution to the annual auction and for your participation in forming a foursome to compete in the upcoming tournament. The H.O.T. Challenge aims to generate funds to benefit the Black Hospitality Initiative (BHI) in awarding scholarships to outstanding young African American students dedicated to serving Greater Miami & Miami Beach for two years post-graduation. Our overall goal is to take full advantage of the distinctive diversity of our destination while acknowledging and honoring the significant economic influence these exceptional students bring to the local Visitor Industry, thereby benefiting our entire community. As the Black Hospitality Initiative (BHI) enrolls applicants for 2024, we want to pause to celebrate our recent graduates of 2023.
  • Miami Dade College - Culinary Arts Management: Chaz Allen, Twilla Jones, Sara Aiken, Rodericka Louis, Brooke Moreno, and Draeden Ramsey.
  • Florida International University - Hospitality Marketing:  Alexis Murray
  • Florida International University - Hotel & Lodging Management:  Bryant Church

Black Hospitality Initiative Scholarship Program
 
The Black Hospitality Initiative Scholarship Program is currently accepting applications for the Fall 2024 semester. Students who meet the qualifications and are interested in pursuing scholarships in Aviation Administration, Culinary Arts, Sports Management, or Hospitality and Tourism are invited to submit their online applications here. The application deadline is May 10. We encourage you to direct your students to visit our website Black Hospitality Initiative for further information about the program. 
Black Hospitality Initiative Internship Program
 
The Black Hospitality Initiative (BHI) Internship Program remains open all year for eligible applicants to apply. The Internship Program will ensure the Hospitality and Tourism industry in Greater Miami and the beaches have a workforce prepared to serve and lead sustainable careers. BHI hoteliers, tourism, and educational partners are ready to fill employment needs. Interns are assigned to positions where they learn multiple transferable skills in areas that match their training, educational backgrounds, and interests. Please share this link with your Human Resources Office or with those who are interested in workforce placement and careers in hospitality and tourism.
