The 305 International Improv Fest '24, hosted by Bistoury Physical Theatre and Film, is back for its 8th installment featuring a series of shows in Miami and San Jose. Immerse yourself in Miami's cherished ventanitas (windows) at the Ventanita Dinner, happening on April 9 at Amelia 1931 as part of the 2024 O, Miami Poetry Festival lineup. The evening begins with a delectable meal inspired by O, Miami's latest publication, Ventanita's: A Window into Miami's Coffee Culture. Enter the profound and moving realm of Because You Lived, an exhibition curated by Karla Kantorovich. Serving as a poignant tribute, the exhibition honors the extraordinary life of Fanny Waseman, Karla's grandmother and the sole Holocaust survivor in her family. At just fifteen years old, Fanny embarked on a journey to Mexico City, where she courageously forged a new path and now boasts 63 descendants. Bourbon at the Border
 
M Ensemble Company is staging a revival of Pearl Cleage's poignant play, Bourbon at the Border. The production will run April 11-28, with performances held on Fridays through Sundays and an opening reception on April 11. All shows will be held at the Sandrell Rivers Theater. Under the direction of André Gainey, the play delves into the stories of two individuals who participated in a historic voter registration campaign in Mississippi during the summer of 1964. 63rd Anniversary of the Bay of Pigs Invasion
 
We cordially invite you to honor the memory of the Cuban martyrs on this 63rd Anniversary of the Bay of Pigs Invasion on April 17 at the Cuban Memorial Boulevard Park. On that day in 1961, Brigade 2506, the CIA-sponsored group of Cuban exiles tried to overthrow Fidel Castro from power. The mission failed, but their legacy lives on. Khem Fest and Khem Animation Film Festival
 
Don't miss the ultimate Afrofuturism experience during Bite-Con Week, happening on April 27 at Miami Dade College's Carrie P. Meek Entrepreneurial Education Center. This event merges Khem Fest and Khem Animation Film Festival to offer a celebration of Black excellence in animation, gaming, innovation, and entertainment technology. Khem Fest, established by comic book creator and educator Naseed Gifted in 2015, is an annual festival that celebrates Black animation, gaming, and comic book creators. The festival aims to promote youth literacy and expression through S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) by showcasing and supporting creators of comics, animation, books, films, and other media with a focus on people of color, their culture, concepts, and interests.

Vizcaya’s Kitchen and The Clafoutis Sonata
 
What might Vizcaya's historic kitchen have looked like in 1916, when the estate was the private home of James Deering? Inspired by this concept, their new exhibit features a newly commissioned work by local artists Karla Caprali and Sophia Cabral, a dynamic mother-daughter duo. Vizcaya’s historic kitchen has been transformed with a site-specific multimedia installation. The exhibit titled Vizcaya’s Kitchen and The Clafoutis Sonata, melds history, storytelling, and animation to create an installation that brings the historic kitchen to life. The installation will be on view through April 29. 
International Jazz Day with Diaspora Vibe Afrobeat Allstars
 
Celebrate the spirit of International Jazz Day with a captivating evening of global rhythms at The Betsy South Beach. Join us on April 30 as The Diaspora Vibe Afrobeat Allstars grace the stage, blending their afrobeat melodies with elements of funk, soul, and jazz. This special occasion is part of The Betsy's long-running jazz series, renowned for its eclectic lineup ranging from traditional to contemporary and worldly sounds. Miami Sephardic Club: The Mimouna Party
 
Welcome to the third annual Mimouna Party, the largest in the entire United States, hosted by the Miami Sephardic Club! For those unfamiliar, Mimouna is a cherished Moroccan tradition observed by Jewish communities. This festive occasion commences after nightfall on the final day of Passover. Families traditionally open their homes to guests, offering a sumptuous array of holiday cakes and sweets, creating a joyful atmosphere filled with music and camaraderie. To pay tribute to Ali's unparalleled legacy, the Washington Avenue BID, in collaboration with HistoryMiami Museum, presents the Muhammad Ali Historical Timeline. Delve into the impact of banned books on African American history at  On the Ban Wagon: The Power of the Pen, a year-long exhibition held at the historic Dana A. Dorsey House. The exhibition kicked off with a community reading of David Walker's Appeal, a powerful literary piece that inspires pride and optimism among the black community. Challenging colonialism, Walker's Appeal declares that America is the rightful heritage of all who played a role in shaping it. This reading, presented as a theatrical performance featuring carefully chosen excerpts, was skillfully performed by members of the community. Click here to read more.

The Miami Beach Bandshell  is an iconic example of of MiMo (mid-century Miami Modern) architecture, situated in the heart of the MiMo Historic District within the North Beach neighborhood of the city.
