Brightline and The Black Archives highligh their second partnership to commemorate Black History Month called Echoes of Overtown which showcase some key imagery from the Historic Lyric Theater and Overtown area.  The exhibit will be up at the Brightline Station Premium Lounge through the end of February. Serie del Caribe (Caribbean Series) Miami 2024      
 
Join us as at LoanDepot Park to celebrate the Serie del Caribe (Caribbean Series) from February 1-9.  Witness the 66th edition of the tournament featuring the Caribbean Professional Baseball Confederation along with three guest teams. This historic event marks the first time the series is held at a Major League Baseball ballpark and the first time since 1991 that it is hosted outside of Latin America. Milonga, a music and dance style originating from Argentina, Uruguay, and Southern Brazil, takes its name from an African term meaning "lines of dancers." A monthly outdoor Milonga is held every 2nd Wednesday of the month in the vibrant heart of Lincoln Road. Open Air Tango #onLincoln was conceived with the aim of establishing a distinctive cultural event that engages both the local community and the many visitors who frequent the area. Miami Urban Contemporary Experience Celebrates Black History Month at the Dorsey House
 
The Miami Urban Contemporary Experience (MUCE) announces its residency at the historic Dorsey House in Overtown, Miami.  The kick-Off exhibition, On The Ban Wagon | The Power of The Pen, delves into banned books, highlighting literary works that have significantly influenced African American history.  The Opening Night to celebrate the residency and Black History Month is February 23 with the community reading of David Walker’s Appeal. José Martí Art Exhibition
 
Join the City of Hialeah for a curated art exhibition in honor of Cuba’s Poet & Hero José Martí. We Belong Here
 
The much-anticipated full lineup for the 2024 edition of We Belong Here has been revealed! Taking place on February 24-25, at Historic Virginia Key Beach Park  the festival will be headlined by Grammy-nominated UK-based DJ and producer Duke Dumont who will be joined by artists like Bob Moses (Club Set), Gordo, Tchami, Wax Motif, and more. The event is set to host more than 65 artists spread across four distinct stages, offering a diverse musical experience. As Black History is American History, it is vital to tell the critical stories of struggle and triumph in South Florida. Virginia Key Beach Park Trust (VKBPT) is so proud to announce that our 75th Anniversary Documentary on an “Emerging Black Miami” is nominated for an Emmy Award.  Huge Kudos to the small but mighty VKBPT team who worked diligently on this project to share this inspiring and important Miami multi-cultural history every day and to our donors who funded this project. Vizcaya Museum and Gardens Features Podcast Honoring Black Coconut Grove
 
Vizcaya Museum and Gardens has partnered with local matriarchs to produce a podcast highlighting the history and accomplishments of Coconut Grove’s Black community. Titled “The Rich and Forgotten History of Black Coconut Grove,” this three-episode series features stories from legacy residents of the neighborhood’s establishment and through their life experiences from the 1930s to the modern day. If you have an interest in arts, culture, innovation, and connecting with people, consider becoming a Vizcaya Volunteer Greeter. They are exposed to the inner workings of this National Historic Landmark and contribute to the experience of more than 300,000 people each year. Theater with Deep Roots in Black Community Will Get its Voice Again
 
In case you haven't heard, Coconut Grove's Ace Theater, which was built in the 1930s and was the heart of the Grove’s Black community during the Jim Crow era, will be restored and reopened thanks to a National Park Service grant.  The Nationoal Park Service, in a new program aimed at preserving sites related to the country’s equal-rights battles, awarded $398K to the Ace Theater.
