The Wolfsonian - Florida International University Presents Silhouettes: Image and Word in the Harlem Renaissance
 
The flourishing of literary, visual, and musical arts between the 1920s and '40s known as the Harlem Renaissance projected a new picture of Black life to the world.  On display at Florida International University's The Wolfsonian through June, Silhouettes: Image and Word in the Harlem Renaissance shows how artists associated with the movement asserted pride in black life and identity, a rising consciousness of inequality and discrimination, and interest in the rapidly changing modern world.

Diaspora Vibe Cultural Arts Incubator (DVCAI) presents Locos Por Marley at the Miami Beach Bandshell
 
On February 10, the acclaimed Miami fusion band Locos Por Juana will grace the stage at the Miami Beach Bandshell. Presented by Diaspora Vibe Cultural Arts Incubator (DVCAI), this marks their 11th annual Locos Por Marley performance, dedicated to the enduring musical legacy of Bob Marley and the Wailers. Known for their bilingual prowess and nominations for both Grammy and Latin Grammy awards, Locos Por Juana delivers dynamic live shows with a unique fusion of reggae, funk, cumbia, salsa, and rock. AfriKin Presents A Tapestry of Cultural Heritage for Black History Month featuring Mutabaruka
 
AfriKin Foundation Inc., a leading platform for showcasing contemporary Africana and Black Art in Miami, proudly announces its 2024 Black History Month public programming. Highlighted Programs will include Perspectives, Poetry & Prose featuring iconic Jamaican Dub Poet, Mutabaruka, the “Verbal Swordsman”on February 18 and debuting throughout February the exhibition Institutionalized Freedoms. This exhibit highlights diverse African American artistic expression, reflecting experiences from the African, Caribbean, and Black-American life, emphasizing the significant role of Black World artists. Additional art programming includes the Juxtaposed Exhibition to be held at the Joe Celestin Center which features a collection of contemporary Africana fine art. To learn more visit here. 
Papers: The Children of Immigrants Exhibition Opening & Artist Talk
 
The Amadlozi Gallery at the African Heritage Cultural Arts Center invites you to the opening of the Papers: The Children of Immigrants Exhibition & Artist Talk on February 10. Witness the first solo art exhibition by self-taught, multi-disciplinary Haitian Jamaican textile artist, Mark Delmont. This powerful artistic work explores immigrants arriving from the Caribbean, West Africa, and South America seeking a better life for their families in the United States. During the Artist Talk, Delmont will discuss his unique method of repurposing discarded materials from the earth to craft large-scale pieces that reflect contemporary times. Arlo's Living Room Gallery: Opening Reception

Arlo's Living Room Gallery, on the 3rd floor of Arlo Wynwood, proudly presents an exhibition featuring the works of Afro-Caribbean visual artist Kandy G Lopez, in celebration of Black History Month. Come on out to the delightful and historic downtown South Miami for the SOMI Art Fest taking place February 24-25. The festival features 100 outstanding artists, live music, activities for the kids, and food and beverage vendors offering a wide range of delicious options. Gimme Shelter at Historic Hampton House 
 
The Historic Hampton House Museum of Culture & Art, the only Green Book Hotel museum that exists in the world to date, launched its inaugural exhibition during Art Basel Miami Beach 2023.  The exhibition titled Gimme Shelter celebrates the history of this iconic site, as not only a safe space but a sacred space for shelter-- a place of warmth, hospitality, and community.  The exhibition is a collection of important works from Greater Miami’s top gallerists and local artists as well as the international diaspora. Gimme Shelter is on view through February 28.
Marshall Davis is Celebrating 40 Years as Director of the African Heritage Cultural Arts Center (AHCA)
 
In 1983 the Model City Cultural Center found itself without a director. Marshall Davis Sr. stepped in, driven by a mission to leverage art as a catalyst for community transformation. Thanks to Davis, it is now known as the African Heritage Cultural Center (AHCA). Over the past four decades, Davis has developed the AHCA into the premier incubator for Miami's young Black artists. The complex in Liberty City caters to a diverse audience, offering a theater, concert hall, dance studio, and gallery, providing students with opportunities to explore and refine their passions. Noche de Arte  at the InterContinental Miami Hotel Honoring Black History Month
 
Join us for an evening of art activation in the Lobby of InterContinental Miami Hotel. Hosted every Monday, Noche de Arte is a weekly arts activation and exhibition that is breaking down barriers between artist and viewer. Each month, a new local Miami artist is showcased, offering visitors an expansive introduction to our vibrant city's diverse array of artistry. February's artist is Jimmy Camille. He is not only a skilled artist and creative craftsman, but his true distinction lies in his inner qualities rather than his external creations. Despite facing challenges, Camille has mastered the art of hard work and maintains a humble demeanor.
On View at Museum of Contemporary Art North Miami (MOCA)
 
Francisco Elso: Por América offers a captivating retrospective of the brief, yet significant career of the late Cuban artist. The exhibition presents the largest survey of Elso’s career to-date, showcasing the evolution of his practice, from his experimentation with new materials to incorporating Indigenous traditions, Afro-Caribbean beliefs, and post-colonial perspectives. 
Ancient Future features Jamea Richmond-Edwards’ multidimensional exploration into Afro-futurism and Black mythologies, and showcases her signature vibrant paintings, film explorations, and immersive installations. The exhibition also introduces a video work that shares her experiences with HBCU marching bands and majorette performances. Both exhibitions are on view at the Museum of Contemporary Art North Miami (MOCA) through March 17.
