Juneteenth Park-In and Party Celebration
 
Take part of the Juneteenth Park-In and Party Celebration on June 17. This year's fest will be held at Hard Rock Stadium in the great City of Miami Gardens, South Florida's epicenter of black culture. The 2023 theme is "Experience in the Gardens" featuring comedian Marvin Dixon and music by DJ Bo Weezy. The celebration will feature local talent showcasing the community's diversity, unity and achievements. The event is presented by City of Miami Gardens Vice Mayor Reggie Leon, Councilwoman Katrina Wilson and Councilman Robert Stephens, III.
 
                      
 
AfriKin Intuition:  Iniko & Danay Suárez 
 
Join us at the Miami Beach Bandshell in North Beach on June 2. Immerse yourself in Caribbean music, art and culture at the AfriKin Intuition.The concert features indie soul musician INIKO whose songs are viral on social media, Afro-Cuban singer Danay Suárez, AfroHouse artist Fùnké and Jamaican singer Myoka. Connect with artists and their creative stories as you listen to live music representing heritages across the Caribbean and African diaspora. Ayitï Pap Peri Haitï: Imperishable
 
Please join the North Miami Community Redevelopment Agency and collaborators for the closing reception of Ayitï Pap Peri Haitï: Imperishable, a Haitian Heritage Month installation.  It takes place on  June 2 at the Scott Galvin Community Center. An artwork auction, benefitting education in Hait with Prodev Haiti, will be hosted by Chokarella's Carel Pedre. All of the art pieces will be sold. Author Talk: Halima Taha
 
Join The Betsy on June 2 for a special author talk presentation celebrating the 10th anniversary of The Betsy Writer's Room. The guest author is Dr. Halima Taha, the renowned author of the best-selling book, Collecting African American Art: Works on Paper and Canvas. Dr. Taha's groundbreaking book is the first to validate the collecting of African-American fine art and photography as an asset and commodity in the marketplace. Sunshine Jazz Organization: The Groove Soul Band
 
Enjoy an evening of live jazz at Sandrell Rivers Theater on June 2. As part of the Sunshine Jazz Organization's Monthly Concert Series, the Palm Beach-based group The Groove Soul Band will take to the stage . Since 2015, the multi-tasking band of singers, songwriters, and musicians have captured the audience's attention with a blend of smooth jazz, blues, R&B, Motown, funk, and more. Museum of Contemporary Art North Miami MiniMakers – Celebrating Pride Month with Sculptures
 
The Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) is celebrating Pride Month through the captivating world of sculptural art inspired by Jean-Michel Othoniel. Known for his vibrant and whimsical sculptures, Othoniel’s work serves as the perfect muse for this June 3 workshop where participants will get the chance to create their own colorful sculptures using wire and pipe cleaners. This hands-on experience not only allows children to express their creativity freely but also introduces them to the power of art as a medium of self-expression and celebration of diversity. 
 
 
 
Voices of Overtown
 
Join the Overtown Community Fellows as they host their Community Activation Project, Voices of Overtown. The event will take place at Dorsey Park, on June 3. The Voices of Overtown project aims to improve the interconnectivity between the historical organizations of Overtown and the community's youth. Bahamian Heritage Celebration with the Miami Marlins

Black Affairs Advisory Board: Annual Community Pillars & Young Pillars Scholarship Awards
 
The Black Affairs Advisory Board’s Heritage Planning Committee invites you to its annual Community Pillar awards and Young Pillar scholarship presentation on June 3 at the Miami Biscayne Bay Marriott. The ceremony will honor Black business leaders for their contribution to Miami’s economy and for paving the way for a younger generation of leaders.  In alignment with the mission of the Pillar Awards, some of the current Black Hospitality Initiative students will be recognized during the program..  Learn more here.
 
          
 
Wynwood Pride
 
June marks Pride Month, and one of Miami’s biggest parties during 2023 will be along the painted streets of Wynwood on June 3-10. Now in its fifth year, the celebration brought more than 135 artists and 50,000 attendees in its inaugural year and has grown every year since. While only a few key events for 2023 have been announced thus far, you can stay tuned to Wynwood Pride’s website for exciting announcements about more musical performances, drag shows and rollicking good times.
 
          
 
Classical Masters
 
The Miami Chamber Music Society invites you to The Classical Masters concert, a part of the Mainly Mozart Festival. The performance by violinist William Hagen and pianist Marina Radiushina, will feature the works of three of the most celebrated composers in classical music history: Mozart, Beethoven, and Schubert. The collaboration of these two musicians promises to be a thrilling exploration of these three masterworks. This performance will take place on June 3 at the Sanctuary of the Arts in Coral Gables. Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami Sunday Stories: Ho'onani, Hula Warrior
 
Join the Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami (MOCA),  as it celebrates Pride Month by learning about identity roles and Hawaiian culture by reading Ho’onani: Hula Warrior by Heather Gale. After the storytelling, children will engage in a hands-on lei-making activity, an artistic extension of the story that fosters creativity and mirrors the Hawaiian tradition of crafting lei as symbols of love, respect and hospitality. Bahas Reunion 2023
 
The Bahas Reunion is here to reunite everyone young or old that grew up in the Bahas by celebrating Black Music Month and enjoying each other by having an annual picnic in the park. Enjoy entertainment, games, splash pad for the kids, and lunch featuring hot dogs and hamburgers. Visakhabucha Day Ceremony
 
Visakhabucha Day is a full moon day in the sixth lunar month. It is considered the most important day in Buddhism because it combines three important days of the Buddha‘s life. These days are the Day of Birth, the Enlightenment Day, and the Day of Death. This year the full moon day in the sixth lunar month is June 3rd. South Florida Miss Juneteenth Pageant  "Red Carpet Affair"
 
On June 4, plan to attend this black-tie event you don't want to miss! The South Florida Miss Juneteenth Pageant is designed to help young ladies build self-confidence and self-esteem through empowerment and leadership. The goal is to educate them about the events of Juneteenth, so they can as Queen Ambassadors of their respective city, promote the Juneteenth holiday. As part of this affair, listen to the voice of Angee Griffin, a national recording artist.  Enjoy the smooth sounds of the Instant Attraction band, directed by Edward G. Robinson. Ocean Drive Promenade Music Series - French Horn Collective
 
The Ocean Drive Association presents a resident-centric and family-friendly concert series, bringing music outside of the concert hall and into the community. On June 4, enjoy the sounds of the French Horn Collective! Their music is a fusion of diverse musical styles. Based on Gypsy Jazz, and some New Orleans and Latin world music Influences, the band mixes some classic French Standards and Original French Compositions with a hot swing rhythm. The concert will take place in Lummus Park, between 14th Street and 14th Place.
 
                      
 
CommuniTEA Dance 2023
 
Join the Arsht Center as they kick off National Pride Month on June 4 at the sixth annual CommuniTEA Dance. The event gives a shout out to South Florida's vibrant LGBTQ+ community. Enjoy performances and activities for all ages. After 3 p.m., the event will transform into an 18 and over tea dance celebration featuring tunes by Deejay Smeejay and a rousing show headlined by Martha Walsh, the original Weather Girl, platinum-selling recording artist and two-time Grammy Award nominee.

Celebrating Gay Pride in June with Noche de Arte at the InterContinental Miami. This is the hotel's arts residency and happy hour program. It features live artist interaction and the creation of live art onsite in the lobby of the hotel. The artist for this month is José Luis Garcia, a photo-based artist, who lives and works in Miami. The Asian American Advisory Board (AAAB) invites you to their Community Recognition Gala in Celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the AAAB. To commemorate their achievements over this time, they will be holding a community recognition dinner event on June 10 at the Coral Gables Golf & Country Club. Proceeds from the dinner will benefit Florida International University (FIU) First Generation Scholarship, which will help FIU students who are the first generation in their families to pursue a college degree. Summer Cabaret Concerts
 
The Summer Cabaret Concert Series  at the Deering Estate is back! Enjoy a musical performance inside the historic Great Hall at the Deering Estate. The series kicks off on June 10 with jazz vocalist Lennis Sabatino. Born and raised in New York City, Lennis Sabatino was exposed to many genres of music, from opera to the street music of the local 42nd street performers. Caribbean Heritage Celebration Weekend
 
Join the Miami Children's Museum as they celebrate Caribbean Heritage Month with a fun-filled weekend of activations on June 10 and June 11. The museum's exciting lineup of activities includes the creation of colorful and textured art pieces inspired by Bohemian artist, Amos Ferguson. Dance to steel drums and learn traditional Haitian dance moves. Design colorful masks and wearable pieces in the museum's Art Studio. The Eternal Night (La Noche Eterna)
 
On June 11, join the Florida International University  Cuban Research Institute for a discussion and screening of The Eternal Night (La Noche Eterna), a feature-length film that tells the story of three young Cuban men who were condemned for their beliefs and their creations. The film is based on the true story of Cuban writer and former political prisoner Néstor Díaz de Villegas. The film is in Spanish with English subtitles and the discussion will be held in English and Spanish. Registration is required.

Benito Juárez Bust Unveiling
 
Join the City of Miami Beach in accepting a Benito Juarez bust from the Consulate General of Mexico in Miami, in collaboration with the Hispanic Affias Committee. President Benito Juárez was one of Mexico's most iconic leaders and the man who the city of Juárez is named after. Connecting Florida: Sawgrass Reflections with Cesar Becerra
 
Join us on June 12 for a lively discussion about the River of Grass and its historical and ongoing effects on everyone in Florida. There are many stories about the Everglades. Historian Cesar Becerra strives to tell them all. So passionate that the Miami Herald named him an Everglades Evangelist. He has been collecting, researching, and contributing to the mountain of academia that, ironically, exists for a place that looks at times like a simple field of grass. Juneteenth Juke Joint

The American Black Film Festival
 
The American Black Film Festival (ABFF) will celebrate its 27th anniversary on Miami Beach from June 14-18. The ABFF brings together Black culture enthusiasts, artists, executives and filmmakers from around the world for five days of screenings, talk events, exclusive parties and high-powered networking.  The event is considered the nation’s largest gathering of Black film and TV enthusiasts. Additionally, in partnership with the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau,  on Sunday, June 18, the festival will end with an ABFF Community Day. Held at the Black Archives Historic Lyric Theater, this is a free event filled with fun and entertainment curated for family audiences.
 
 
 
Miami R&B Music Experience
 
Join Tyrese, Xscape, El DeBarge, Ginuwine, Next, 112, Silk, as they take us back to the best R&B of the 1990's and early 2000's when the R&B Music Experience tour brings its electrifying showcase to Miami. Siudy Flamenco:  Bailaora, mis pies son mi voz
 
Siudy Garrido is one of the most exciting international flamenco performers today. Siudy returns to the Arsht Center stage with her ensemble to perform a new and exciting show Bailaora: Mis pies son mi voz (my feet are my voice), a performance piece featuring music composed by Juan Parrilla, Manuel Fernandez, Siudy Garrido and Jose Luis de la Paz. Enjoy eighty minutes of dance-theater showcasing vivid and colorful costumes, award-winning choreography and astoundingly percussive footwork. Juneteenth 2023: Appreciating Our Community's Roots
 
Masjid Al-Ansar invites you to celebrate Juneteenth with them the weekend of June 16-18 . This mosque is nestled in a church building bought by Muslims in 1968.  It is one of the oldest mosques in South Florida, it serves as a religious center for the Islamic community. Juneteenth Freedom Day Celebration
 
Come to Florida International University's third annual Juneteenth Freedom Day Celebration on June 17. This year's celebration has a theme of Educate, Celebrate & Heal. Educating, celebrating and embracing the truths of Juneteenth can serve to expand the collective knowledge knowledge of the community and accelerate an appreciation for the black history excluded from pedagogy. American Black Film Festival Community Day
 
The 2023 American Black Film Festival (ABFF) will close out its five-day event with the annual Community Day taking place on June 18, at the Black Archives Historic Lyric Theater. The ABFF and the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau bring Hollywood talent to Miami for this event. Family West African Dance & Drum Class
 
The Arts & Culture in the Gardens is an arts series that spotlights traditional African arts as a cultural framework for understanding social traditions. It offers residents the opportunity to engage in delightful cultural arts experiences with professional artists.  On June 18, Delou Africa Dance Ensemble hosts families for an intergenerational Drum and Dance class in celebration of Juneteenth & Father’s Day. The workshop affirms the African belief that African Dance and Drum is not just for dancers and drummers but was created for the community to interact through positive social and cultural connections. The Poetry Potluck truly is a living activation and a "Gathering for the Art of Community". The poetry is what brings us all together but it's the connections, the random conversations, and the ever-growing community that keeps people coming back. This one is in recognition of a monumental occasion in African-American History, Juneteenth. Come hang out in the family room. This space is meant for exploration, learning, discovery, free-thought and open-dialogue. Head to the backyard. This space is meant to mimic the traditional Black family cookout. The Juneteenth Experience
 
Join us on June 19 at the Miami Beach Bandshell to celebrate Black freedom  at The Juneteenth Experience, a multidisciplinary, immersive performance honoring Black artists, Black culture, Black community, and Black Miami, presented by Hued Songs. The performance includes a diverse cast of local artists ranging from spoken word, song, dance, and animation. In-Person: An Evening with Verne Lyon
 
Books & Books Coral Gables is thrilled to present an evening with Verne Lyon discussing his book Eyes on Havana: Memoir of an American Spy Betrayed by the CIA. He tell his story of how an Iowa boy, away at college,  was recruited by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). He was framed by his handlers for an airport bombing. He balked at the increasingly nefarious missions he was given and tried to quit. He was kidnapped twice by the CIA and ended up in United States Penitentiary Leavenworth. Visages of Memory - Honoring Holocaust Survivors and Preserving Their Memories
 
The Holocaust was one of the darkest chapters in human history that claimed the lives of six million Jews and countless others. The exhibit Visages of Memory - Honoring Holocaust Survivors and Preserving Their Memories, at the Kislak Center at the University of Miami, presents portraits of South Florida Holocaust survivors alongside their memoirs. Photographer Laszlo Selly, a Holocaust survivor himself, captured the visages of fellow survivors as seen through his unique lens of solidarity and understanding. Each of Selly’s portraits is accompanied by a short account of the survivor’s personal and inspiring story written by Bobbi Kaufman. Exhibition is on display until July 21.
