Celebrate Diversity Month

April is Celebrate Diversity Month. It was started in 2004 to recognize and honor the diversity surrounding us all. By celebrating differences and similarities during this month, organizers hope that people will get a deeper understanding of each other.

Arab-American Heritage Month

April is National Arab American Heritage Month, celebrating the heritage and culture of Arab Americans, as well as honoring their contributions. Arab Americans trace their origins to 22 Arabic-speaking countries in the Middle East and North Africa. Arabs began immigrating to the US in the late 1800s fleeing war, persecution and economic hardships, according to the Migration Policy Institute. California, New York, Michigan and Illinois have the largest populations of Arab American residents in the country, based on data from the 2015-2019 ACS Ancestry survey.

Scottish-American Heritage Month

Put on a kilt, dress in tartan, try some haggis, or have some smooth scotch. April is Scottish-American Heritage Month! Every April millions of Americans show off their Scottish roots with pride. Throughout the country, various national and local events are organized that celebrate Scottish culture. This is also a time to remember the contributions of Scottish-American politicians, leaders, inventors, etc. that have had a big impact on U.S. history. For more information click here.
