Hello everyone,
On behalf of our GMCVB family to yours, our very best wishes to you and yours for a blessed, meaningful and joyous Holiday Season and New Year ahead.
Speaking of family, our staff gathered last week for our traditional holiday luncheon. We used the occasion to celebrate our “service awards” that accompany the conclusion of another year of effort, commitment and accomplishments. I wanted to take this moment and focus on a special group of 12 individuals who really embody what a community-based, partner-focused and team-oriented organization is all about.
Pictured left to right: Betty Garcia – senior staff accountant and Robert Franzino – senior editorial manager of our publications, both celebrating 20 years of service as part of our team. Also pictured is Joe Yarzabal – vice president of financial services celebrating 31 years leading our organization. Continuing left to right is Al West celebrating his 30th year as our CFO. Al recently announced his retirement at the end of 2022 – he leaves with a legacy and lifetime of leadership and community engagement. Thank you, Al!
Also in the group photo is Maria Sidoti – senior manager of digital production and Silvia Travieso – account manager on our partnership development team, both also celebrating 20 years of service and accomplishments. This special group photo also includes Mervyn Garcia – our office manager celebrating 25 years of “being there” (always). Next is Jean Orta – our human resources manager achieving her 31st year and Maria Diaz – administrative assistant, Convention Sales, completing 21 years supporting our sales efforts. The photo is rounded out by Rolando Aedo, our Chief Operating Officer. Rolando just celebrated 28 years of leadership and service both internally and externally.
Two of our colleagues were not able to be with us at the luncheon but join this committed and seasoned group. Rosario Errazquin – GMCVB’s accounts payable manager – is celebrating 31 years in her key role, and Suzie Sponder – marketing communications senior director – is completing 20 years of service and experiences.
All organizations have among their ranks the “glue” that contribute greatly as a result of time, experience and commitment. We are indeed fortunate to have and depend upon this special group of colleagues.
