Miami Bayside Foundation 2022 Fall Small Business Training Graduation
 
Congratulations to the  Miami Bayside Foundation 2022 Fall Small Business Training graduating class.  On Thursday, November 17,  an in-person graduation was held at Oasis at Miami Gardens, recognizing 28 businesses that successfully completed the 14-session entrepreneurial training. The training helped participating businesses sharpen their entrepreneurial skills, grow and become sustainable. Petra Brennan, Director of Tourism Business Enhancement, extended congratulatory remarks to the fall 2022 fall business cohort. The Miami Bayside Foundation small business training is supported by the GMCVB’s Tourism Business Enhancement Initiative with the mission to advocate, support, and strengthen the economic sustainability and access of multicultural communities and heritage-related businesses within Greater Miami & Miami Beach as part of the efforts of the Multicultural Tourism & Development Department.
 
 
 
MDC’s Business Innovation & Technology Center Launches New Student Operated Digital Agency (SODA) 
 
Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Business Innovation & Technology (BIT) Center will launch the College’s first Student Operated Digital Agency (SODA) in the heart of downtown Miami. Through SODA, students interested in careers in marketing can obtain industry-recognized certifications, such as Google and Hootsuite free of charge, and will have the opportunity to work with local businesses and organizations to help them overcome marketing and business growth challenges. Miami Open for Business is Officially Open!
 
The Miami Foundation has officially opened applications for their largest grant program ever: Miami Open For Business!  Fueled by a $20 million grant from Wells Fargo, the program aims to empower nonprofits and small businesses to build generational wealth and resilience through the purchase and ownership of critical business assets, such as property, equipment, and technology. This grant program hits upon two of our core priorities as a Foundation – equity and resilience, and enables us to go deep, with larger investments to more organizations with a priority for historically underserved leaders. Participants gain practical skill to take their business to the next level, with topics like financial statements, negotiations, and marketing. Participants develop an actionable growth plan for their business with the help of advisors and a network of like-minded entrepreneurs. The program is free for participants and delivered in partnership with academic institutions across the country. US Small Business Administration Announces Landmark Collaboration with Historically Black Fraternities and Sororities to Address Wealth Gap Through Black Entrepreneurship
 
First of its Kind Agreement That Will Focus on Improving Financial Literacy, Outreach and Capital Access Opportunities Across Communities. Recently, Administrator Isabella Casillas Guzman , head of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and the voice for America's 32.5 million small businesses in President Biden's Cabinet, signed a Strategic Alliance Memorandum (SAM)--an authority unique to the SBA among federal agencies--with President Reuben A. Shelton III, Esq., on behalf of the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC)'s Council of Presidents, comprised of nine historically Black fraternities and sororities, sometimes referred to as the "Divine Nine."
