Reflect upon the work of Rahsaan “FLY GUY” Alexander, photographer and curator of CAPTURE: A Portrait of the Pandemic, on a walk through historic Overtown. Learn about this important and vibrant community. See scenes featured in the exhibition as you explore Rahsaan Alexander’s process in bearing witness to and memorializing the events of 2020 and its impact on the people of this community.

Rahsaan “FLY GUY” Alexander
For the better part of the last decade, Rahsaan Alexander, professionally known as DJ FLY GUY, had been a fixture behind the turntables at the most prominent nightclubs in Miami’s nightlife scene. But all of that came to a screeching halt with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in March of 2020. Faced with a global health crisis, the shutdown of his industry, and brewing social unrest, Rahsaan turned his creative energies to a passion he once explored as a high school senior at Miami Killian: photography.
