The Miami Beach Convention Center won silver at the 5th annual Stella Awards this month. It ranked second among Best Convention Centers in the Southeast Region.
David Whitaker, President & CEO for the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau, said, “Miami and Miami Beach offer everything that organizations need for a functional and enjoyable meeting experience. The convention center is a vital part of that, and for Northstar Meetings Group to acknowledge that is a testament to Miami’s attractiveness in the meetings industry.”
Northstar Meetings Group released the news as multiple organizations from around the globe were honored for delivering quality service and innovation to meeting and event professionals. The Stella Awards are the meeting industry’s highest honor, recognizing hotels, convention centers, conference centers, airlines, cruise lines, DMOs/CVBs and DMCs. Miami’s convention center stood out from the more than 600 entries voted on this year.
“The Miami Beach Convention Center is one of our shining jewels,” City Manager Alina T. Hudak shared. “This award sends a message to event planners everywhere that Miami Beach is ready to host their events at a world-class venue with a beautiful backdrop.”

The 1.4 million square foot LEED-certified convention center is in the heart of Miami Beach. After meetings halted during the pandemic, the MBCC was one of the first to welcome back in-person events and trade shows starting in March 2021.
This Stella Award reflects the hard work of the MBCC team in ensuring that service, safety and innovation were priorities as the facility resumed operations. With 14 major conventions and conferences, including the world’s largest Bitcoin conference, coming to the destination in 2022, the MBCC and GMCVB are excited about the future of events.
