Celebrate ORGULLO’s 2021 Festival explores the ART of ILUSIÓN – How the Art of Drag, Creativity, Talent and self-Expression influence our daily lives. The history of Drag is an evolution from a common theater practice to an award-winning form of entertainment that has gained legitimacy both on a national and international stage. The first person to describe himself as "the queen of drag" in the U.S. was William Dorsey Swann, born enslaved in Hancock, Maryland, who in the 1880s started also hosting drag balls in Washington, DC attended by other men who were former slaves, and often raided by the police, as documented in the newspaper. Nuestro Fest - Live from Miami!

Atlantino and Brilla Media will produce Nuestro Fest, a National Hispanic Heritage Month-themed virtual festival that will be hosted live from Miami October 2nd from 8-10pm EST, on national broadcast TV and through various streamers and online platforms. The two-hour broadcast and live stream experience will feature a jam-packed line-up of iconic and emerging Latin music artists, celebrity co-hosts, a fashion show, mixology segments, fashion, Latino culinary recipes, and other creative surprises. Unfold: The Pride Plays

A collection of three Latino-centric, LGBTQ2 case studies realizing the complexities of our "identity decade." Each twenty-minute playlet contains controversial material to fuel a powerful evening of theatre. The muscular dialogue folds together with a top-rate acting ensemble. Little Havana Social Club

Lyric Live at the Black Archives Historic Lyric Theater

South Florida's premier talent night showcase. LYRIC LIVE is where you decide which contestant takes home the $1000.00 prize. Every first Friday, you are the judge. The 37th Annual Miami Carnival

The annual Miami Carnival returns to the Miami-Dade County Fairgrounds October 8-10 with Covid 19-protocols in place. The safety and health of the Miami Carnival's masquerade bands, steel bands, vendors, volunteers, performers, sponsors, and patrons are at the forefront of this year's planning and production of the 37th annual Miami Carnival Celebration. The Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau is proud to be the Host Sponsor, with the support of the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs and the Cultural Affairs Council, the Miami-Dade County Mayor, and the Board of County Commissioners. In the Heights Free Movie Screening

Join Councilwoman Mary Estime-Irvin at the 'Movie on the Lawn' event as we continue to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month! Don't miss this special screening of 'In The Heights' on Saturday, October 9 at Griffing Park (located at NE 123 Street & West Dixie Hwy). Caribbean Market Days

In case you haven't heard, Caribbean Market Day is back every Saturday from 10am to 6pm. The market will have vendors selling their wares from all areas of Miami, South Florida, and beyond. Siudy Flamenco BAILAORA

After a successful world premiere in Miami in 2019, Bailaora – within me, within you returns by popular demand! The music in Bailaora pairs traditional flamenco instrumentation with synthesized sounds. The narrative takes an emotional journey through dance that results in a humanist and feminist commentary on self-invention and self-determination, revealing the vulnerability and inner strength of a warrior whose only voice is her art. Viernes Culturales / Cultural Fridays

This 20-year tradition to Little Havana, Viernes Culturales on Calle Ocho is held the third Friday of each month from avenues 12 to 17, from 4-10 p.m. Enjoy an evening of art, music and culture. Attendees can expect live music in most restaurants, including CubaOcho, Guantanamera, Old Havana, Sala’o, Café La Trova, Mofongo’s and Cubata Tapas y Vinos. The Afro-LatinX Music Experience Parte Dos

The Heritage Project is back, kicking off its salon series with The Afro-LatinX Music Experience Parte Dos! Part 1 of the discussion took place during the inaugural season, and the conversation will continue in October with Parte Dos, an exploration into the evolution of Afro-LatinX music from the 1990s through today. This talk will unpack the challenges of navigating the Afro-LatinX experience within the music industry while spotlighting salsa, reggaeton and hip-hop. The iGen Film Festival (formerly the Elijah Wells Youth Indie Film Festival) will take place October 29-31 in Historic Overtown. The mission of the iGen Film Festival is to provide a platform for emerging filmmakers ages 16-25, around the world to reach the broadest possible audience and to generate international dialogue through cinema. HistoryMiami Museum Presents - It’s a Miami Thing: Highlights from Our Collection

In celebration of the City of Miami’s 125th birthday, you can explore highlights from the museum’s vast collection of artifacts and archival materials. Over the decades, the museum has collaborated with the community to collect, preserve, and share local history, in particular objects that document the uniqueness of our city. It's a Miami Thing will display hundreds of items including unearthed Tequesta artifacts from 800 A.D., Seminole patchwork clothing, prints from naturalist John James Audubon’s Birds of America, treasure salvaged from the 1622 Nuestra Señora de Atocha shipwreck, discovered 35 years ago off the coast of the Florida Keys, and a cape from famed astrologer Walter Mercado. HistoryMiami Museum’s New Artist-in-Residence

HistoryMiami Museum is proud to announce their newest artist-in-residence, Rose Max & Ramatis, a music duo specializing in the popular Brazilian music styles of samba, bossa nova, and chorinho. Both born in Rio de Janeiro, Rose Max and Ramatis Moraes moved to the U.S. in 1993 and now call Miami Beach home. Through performances and presentations, Rose Max & Ramatis share their passion for Brazilian culture and an appreciation for the mix of traditions that contribute to Brazil’s rich musical history. Negra by Randolph Ward

The complexities of femininity, gender identity, and colorism come to the screen in a theatrical adaptation of Me Gritaron Negra by the Peruvian Mother of Dance Theater Victoria Santa Cruz. Negra, is a short dance film presented by international choreographer Randolph Ward in Partnership with Unity Coalition for the 2020 Celebrate Orgullo’s Virtual Festival and stars gender fluid Brazilian born artist Natanael Leal. The Bass Highlights Tour

Guided tours every Saturday from 2:00 to 3:00pm. Guests will explore various highlights of the collection, the museum’s architecture and current exhibitions both inside and outside of The Bass through an interactive guided tour. Trained educators will provide behind-the-scenes experience of The Bass Museum. This tour is included with cost of museum admission and maximum capacity applies on a first- come, first-served basis.
