Historic Hampton House Legacy Day - Honoring Dr. Pinkney’s 90th Birthday
 
The Board of Trustees and the Host Committee of ‘Legacy Day’ at the Historic Hampton House invites you to join us as we celebrate the Legacy of the Historic Hampton House by Honoring an individual whose contributions have been instrumental to preserving, honoring, and restoring the continued Legacy of the Historic Hampton House, our own Historian and Preservationist Dr. Enid Pinkney on her 90th Birthday.  Legacy Day,’ at the Hampton House will take a walk down ‘History Lane’ detailing Dr. Pinkney’s heroic contributions and the sacrifices she has made during the process of bringing the Hampton House back to the iconic treasure that stands today in the Brownsville community. 27th Annual Sunshine Awards
 
The South Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (SFLHCC) Sunshine Awards are presented annually to companies that have excelled and “shine” in their respective fields. In order to be nominated for an SFLHCC Sunshine Award in any of the following categories, the company being nominated must be a member in good standing of the SFLHCC. The Sunshine Awards will be presented during a lunch on Friday, November 5, 2021, at the Biltmore Hotel.  Company nominated does not need not be Hispanic. In the Heights Free Movie Screening
 
Join Councilwoman Mary Estime-Irvin at the 'Movie on the Lawn' event as we continue to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month!  Don't miss this special screening of 'In The Heights' on Saturday, October 9 at Griffing Park (located at NE 123 Street & West Dixie Hwy).  The movie starts at 7 p.m. so bring your blankets and chairs!  Concessions will also be sold on-site.  For more information  call the North Miami Office of the Mayor and Council at 305-895-9818.
 
 
 
Celebrity Storytime with Mayor Philippe Bien-Aime
 
Join in person or via Zoom. Mayor Philippe Bien-Aime will read the Children's book, Dreamers. A children's reception will follow.  The author and illustrator created this book to tell the story of her move to the United States with her infant son. Caribbean Market Days
 
In case you haven't heard, Caribbean Market Day is back every Saturday from 10am to 6pm. The market will have vendors selling their wares from all areas of Miami, South Florida, and beyond. Original art work, vintage and thrift finds, handmade goods, artisan treasures and more will fill the stalls of the Caribbean Marketplace in Ti Ayiti (Little Haiti) 5925 NE 2 Second Ave Miami, FL 33137. Viernes Culturales / Cultural Fridays
 
This 20-year tradition to Little Havana, Viernes Culturales on Calle Ocho is held the third Friday of each month from avenues 12 to 17, from 4-10 p.m. Enjoy an evening of art, music and culture. Attendees can expect live music in most restaurants, including CubaOcho, Guantanamera, Old Havana, Sala’o, Café La Trova, Mofongo’s and Cubata Tapas y Vinos. Another attraction of Cultural Fridays is the free tour with Dr. Paul George, historian-in-residence at HistoryMiami Museum, starting at 7 p.m. in front of the Tower Theater. Ancient Spanish Monastery Celebrates it's 880th Birthday
 
2021 marks the Monastery’s 880 Birthday, the year King Alfonso VII deeded the Monastery in Sacramenia Spain.  It is a splendid example of Romanesque/Early Gothic Architecture.  The Ancient Spanish Monastery is a South Florida jewel, and not to be missed. Open Wed - Saturday from 10:00-4:00, the Monastery is open to the public and is a magnificent tourist attraction.  Dubbed the Viscaya of North Dade, it is a must see.  One will not see anything like this, but right here in North Miami Beach, FL.  Close to Sunny Isles and the Aventura Mall, there is lots to do and great places to eat.

Fantasy Theater Factory Announces 2021-2022 Season
 
The Fantasy Theater Factory at the Sandrell Rivers Theater in Liberty City has announced the lineup for its 2021-2022 season of the arts starting October 1. Westchester Cultural Arts Center
 
Hispanic Heritage begins this month and Miami-Dade Parks' has a new venue for the community to come together to enjoy cultural events and the arts. Located at the entrance of Tropical Park, the state-of-the art Westchester Cultural Arts Center, will provide cultural programming and instruction focusing on Hispanic arts and culture. The Center  features a 200-seat Studio Theater and support spaces, including a lobby area which will serve as an art gallery. The Center officially opens this fall of 2021 and will offer exciting cultural and recreational programs at Tropical Park.
