Miami-Dade's Historically Black Neighborhoods Poised for Boost in Tourism

Connie Kinnard, VP of Multicultural Tourism and Development at the GMCVB was recently interviewed for the South Florida Business Journal’s story on the GMCVB’s Multicultural Tourism efforts in Miami, with a focus on how these efforts are helping bring visitors to historically black neighborhoods.  The first order of business when she started in 2015 became identifying which businesses and potential tourist attractions in these neighborhoods could be the biggest immediate tourist draws. “Vacationers are looking for more than the typical tourist traps when on vacation. Cultural tourism is a phenomenon growing in popularity, and it describes visitor desire for cultural experiences while on leisure trips,” said Kinnard.  To read the full article click here.
