Small Business Entrepreneurs complete Training to Help Them Thrive

Congratulations to the Miami Bayside Foundation 2020 Fall small business graduating class. On Thursday, November 19th , 32 small businesses completed their 15-session fall entrepreneurial training led by industry professionals in various business subject areas. The training helped participating businesses sharpen their entrepreneurial skills, grow and become sustainable. Some of the business’ categories included event rental, medical, marketing, publishing and food & beverage. The Miami Bayside Foundation Small Business training is supported by various partners including the GMCVB’s Tourism Business Enhancement Initiative, helping small businesses build capacity and gain economic sustainability. Connie Kinnard participated in the online graduation and extended congratulatory remarks to the fall 2020 small business cohort.

Waze Launches Outreach Campaign To Support Small Businesses

Due to the impact of COVID-19, we know that the forthcoming holiday season will be an especially important time for small businesses. And, we want to help them make sure their location listings on Waze are as visible and accurate as possible to encourage drivers to shop local. Business owners, including restaurants, small retail shops, and more who would like help keeping their business info up-to-date can input updated operating hours, contact information, and services into this quick form from today until January 7, 2021. Small businesses looking to update their information on Waze after this date can do so right from the Waze app. More info is available on the Waze blog.

Miami Beach Launches Race to Trace

The City of Miami Beach announced the launch of Race to Trace, a new program intended to provide focused COVID-19 contact tracing and other health resources to Miami Beach hotels, restaurants as well as cultural venues. Funded under a grant from The Rockefeller Foundation, the program will provide businesses with a dedicated strike team of seasoned contact tracers from the Florida Department of Health (DOH) in Miami-Dade County to keep employees and patrons safe. The Rockefeller Foundation awarded grants to the City of Miami Beach and Florida Department of Health (FDOH) to further the goals of its National COVID-19 Testing & Tracing Action Plan. The Plan supports reopening the economy through a combination of effective testing, contact tracing and strengthening of data platforms and public education campaigns to better track and monitor the spread of the disease.
